If you’re selling a home, you want to find the right buyer and move on to your next adventure as soon as possible. However, even if your home is priced to sell, you may still have a hard time getting offers on it. This is where staging comes in. Often, homes that are staged sell for more and remain on the market for much less time than homes that haven’t been staged.
When you’re selling a home, you don’t have to hire a professional stager to highlight your home’s best features. In fact, you can do it yourself by:
- Eliminating clutter—Getting rid of clutter is one of the most important parts of selling a home. Keep in mind that eliminating clutter doesn’t just mean organizing your closets and clearing off your kitchen countertops. Rather, it means that your home shouldn’t be overcrowded with furniture and decorative pieces.
- Moving furniture away from the walls—Although you might think that keeping your furniture up against the walls will make your home seem bigger, arranging your pieces in groups away from the walls will actually make your home seem more user-friendly.
- Repurposing rooms—If you have a room that is specifically used for storage or for a unique hobby, you should consider repurposing it to make it appeal to a larger group of buyers. For example, if you have a salon in your home, you may want to stage it as an office during showings.
